Hello

Rodeo Houston!!!

Rodeo Houston!!!

Introducing Me

I think a great way to know whether you want to work with a company or someone is to get to know them. Companies and people are unique and different with their own ideas and processing. So here I am going to let everyone get to know me, Stephanie, the owner of Sweet In-Home Care a little better.

My Beginnings

I guess the best place to start is at is the beginning. I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky and a big Wildcats fan. Go Big Blue! I am biracial so my mom is Asian and my dad is white. My mom was a former OR nurse so I know that I can go to her if I need any medical advise or opinion. My dad is a Navy veteran so I am familiar with some navy terms and hold high respect for our active military and veterans. I am an only child, but my parents feel like the dog is an added child. My parents moved us down to Houston when I was 10 and I’ve been here ever since. I grew up going to First Colony Mall, the ice skating rink, and high school football games with friends. I graduated high school from John Foster Dulles High School and completed my college education at the The University of Houston Bauer College of Business. Now I spend my time enjoying a visit to The Galleria, spending time with Riley (our mascot), and it’s always fun when the rodeo is in town. I actually volunteer for the Rodeo Houston as part of their 34,000+ volunteers and have been doing so for almost five years now. I’m apart of the Gatekeepers division. Go team 27! I love it and was bummed this year’s rodeo was cut short, but it was necessary. Crossing my fingers for rodeo next year.

Rupp Arena

First off yes this is an old photo of Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. I have newer photos with the new viewing screen in the center, but the pictures aren’t that good. It’s a great place to experience a college game and has a very packed history with to go along with it. You can see the banners hanging up in the rafters (we only hang up banners) and the fans are always ready to cheer on their team. If you visit for a game don’t forget to grab an ice cream cone while you’re there. They are the best.

Travel

I absolutely love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit many places around the world already. I love exploring new places, trying new things, and all the delicious food that comes with it. I always enjoyed visiting the museums and visiting important places filled with history where I happened to be at. If I had to pick a favorite country I would have to say my favorite country I visited was Italy. Italy has so many different cities and sights to explore not to mention the absolutely amazing food available. My favorite vacation so far has to be when I toured around Europe for a month. I am certainly not done traveling, but currently traveling is on hold for now for me unfortunately.

Barcelona view.JPG

Barcelona

Barcelona is such a great city to visit filled with history, good food, and plenty of sights to see. Make sure to check out Mercat de la Boqueria, try some paella, and of course the Sagrada Familia or the Park Güell. This photo is the Museu Nacional D'art De Catalunya. It has great views from below and above.

Gardening

I have been really enjoying do it yourself things especially right now such as having my own garden, making my own salsa/bread/jam, and some DIY beauty recipes. Not so good on the green thumb just yet. I’ve killed a few plants however, I have also been able to keep some alive so there’s that. Not quite sure what went wrong, but maybe I will figure out this growing thing eventually. The herbs I have been getting from the garden have been a really big help with cooking. They are also the main plants that I have been able to keep alive. I have learned from gardening that pickling is your friend. Sometimes we have had an abundance of fruits and vegetables that we cannot possibly eat so we had to give them out to friends, but that still left us with plenty. We turned to pickling also a dehydrator was useful. I love that I can make my own pickles and candied jalapeños. With being home most of the time and having the garden Pinterest has been my go to for tips and recipes. Pinterest has been my go to for a while for all things inspiration, fashion, cooking, etc. It is amazing and I use it all the time. In fact, the company has it’s very own Pinterest page if you want to take a look.

Garden Time

This is the goal to have bowls of produce from the garden, but we aren’t quite there yet. We have an assortment of veggies in the garden such as jalapenos, banana peppers, cucumbers, beans, and tomatoes. We also have the herbs like basil, oregano, thyme, mint, and rosemary. Lastly, we have the fruit trees consisting of fig, lemon, pomegranate, and blood orange.

TV/Movies

Love watching television or movies. Marathons and movie nights are always fun. I miss going to the movie theaters and seeing new movies. Action, Romance, and Comedy are my go to genres for movies. I lean more on the action side. Streaming has been very necessary as of late. I am a big fan of Harry Potter (Potterheads!) Some of my favorite movies include: National Treasures 1&2, all the Transformers, Fast & Furious, and of course Harry Potter. You can’t go wrong with How to lose a guy in 10 days, The Proposal, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 1&2, and Sweet Home Alabama for romantic comedies. Television favorites are One Tree Hill, Chuck, Baby Daddy, Fuller House, and Boy Meets World. Currently watching season 4 of The Last Kingdom. (Uhtred!) Happy that there’s going to be a season 5. There’s plenty more, but I’m not going to list them all.

Television/Movies

Disney+ and Netflix have been the stars during this quarantine. Checked off plenty of movies and shows on the watchlist. It’s been great watching the old Disney and the shows on Netflix. Lucifer, The Last Kingdom, Medici, Disney channel original movies, and Disney 90’s movies are the favorites.

Books

Like most I have a pile of books that I have been meaning to read, but never found the time. I guess I can look at the bright side of the pandemic resulting in me actually working on that pile. I’m more for the fiction/young adult genre than anything else. I just love a feel good book. The non-fiction and autobiographies aren’t personally my taste. I think I could go for an action/adventure book. I feel that I should expand my bookcase, but I haven’t gotten there yet. Currently reading Paper Towns by John Green ( I know I’m way behind!) I saw the movie, but never got around to actually reading the book. Any recommendations I am open to checking out.

If there’s anything you want to know about me or discuss about leave a comment and I will answer the best I can.

Books

I love having actual books in my hand and The Half Price Book store is a favorite to get the books I’m interested in reading. I may at some point switch to audiobooks or kindle.

Best,
